lion. The name of Romanian and Moldovan leu (/leŭ/, plural:
lei /lej/) means "lion" in Romanian language. The Bulgarian
lev (Bulgarian: лев, plural: лева, левове / leva, levove), the
currency of Bulgaria, has the same etymology.
